Absolute Care Building
This mid terraced house was in desperate need of an update and expansion. The new owners had a young family and wanted to create a spacious living/dining space they could all enjoy. The current layout was typical of a 1920's house, with its old tiled fireplaces and a kitchen the size f a cupboard. Working with them to understand their needs we designed a living space that met their requirements. We opened up the downstairs by removing the existing stud wall between the kitchen and dining area and building a single storey extension on the back of the house. A new kitchen and utility room was then fitted and the entire downstairs area was redecorated including the installation of a new working fireplace and oak wooden flooring throughout.
We then returned a few years later and built a small extension to the front of the house to open up the entrance hall. We also excavated the front garden to create a drive and built hidden bin storage area with a balcony for planting.
Before
After

Existing house with a door leading fromt he dining room to a wooden decked area and a second door from the tiny kitchen leading to a small outside shed (formerly the original outdoor toilet)

Internal walls removed and extension built using the full width of the back of the house. Wood framed doors and windows were fitted to allow light to flood the new kitchen/dining area.

Existing small dining room with a door on the left which lead to a tiny kitchen

The dividing wall was removed and an extension was built onto the back of the house to create a large kitchen dining room with seperate utility room

The old entrance was dark and small

With a porch built on the front of the house, the entrance hall was opened up and flooded with light. Redecoration and new flooring completely transformed the space into a welcoming entrance.

The front garden was a wasteland with narrow broken steps and nowhere to store the bins.

The ground was excavated and the steps were replaced with wider stone steps. A bin storage area was built under a terraced platform and a block paviour drive was built.
